came home to some pretty shit news.

the state is taking away one of my grants because, lucky me, my parents “earn too much money”. The state fails to realize that the majority of their income is going towards taxes,bills  and WOW SCHOOL BILLS. Which leaves my parents with very little left over to put into much else. 
And even better, school tuition increases every year, so of course not, we don’t need any of the financial aid we get!

I find it comical that this country “values higher education” and yet colleges are run like businesses and degrees are a dangled in front of students like luxury carrots. 
“Just give us all your money, all you have now and everything you make 20, 30, 40 years into the future, plus your children’s lives, as well. And we’ll give you this bachelor’s degree which means little more than a high school diploma now but shhh you don’t know that. and then society will demand you get your masters IF you want the opportunity for a higher paying job.”

And here I am writing my last paper of the semester.

why do I feel massively guilty every time I call out of work?

I called out for tonight because I have to write 4 papers this weekend and really need the time.

I just feel terrible making up an excuse even though finals should be a good enough excuse.

I said I had really bad cramps.
